UBC Okanagan is Here. For our community

Dear colleagues,

At the heart of our campus’ mission is our united and unrelenting passion to inspire a better world. Beyond the incredible research, teaching and other work taking place on our campus in service of this mission, each year our UBC community comes together in support of our friends and neighbours in need across the region by contributing to United Way.

The past few years have demanded much of our courage and fortitude. While these challenges have affected us all, there are many in our community who have felt these impacts more than others. Following the difficult wildfire season, the effects of which will be with us for some time, we are reminded once again of the importance of empathy, compassion, and collective action.

When you support United Way, you help students, families and neighbours across the region to afford groceries, pursue education, receive disaster assistance and much more—including UBC Okanagan students like Yanna.

There are several ways that you can support the UBC United Way campaign. You can give to the United Way through a payroll pledge or a one-time donation. You can also help spread the word and raise funds for United Way by hosting a Pit Stop event. Financial assistance is available for departments interested in hosting events through Healthy Workplace Funding.

I encourage you to join me in supporting United Way however you are able, and to continue being a force for good in these challenging times. Thank you for being here for our community, and I wish you the best this fall season.

Sincerely,

Lesley Cormack
Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor
UBC Okanagan
